the ultimate wedding prep guide

Your wedding day goes by quickly but your photos will last forever. These simple tips will help ensure everything runs smoothly and your images feel natural, timeless, and true to you.

Build a Realistic Timeline

The best photos happen when there’s time to breathe. Work with your photographer to create a timeline that includes buffer time for getting ready, travel, and portraits. Rushing creates stress and it shows in photos.

Prioritize Lighting

Lighting is everything in photography. If possible:

  • Schedule your ceremony near natural light (outdoor or window-lit spaces)
  • Plan couple portraits during golden hour (just before sunset) for soft, glowing images. Trust your photographer when they suggest stepping away for a few minutes of perfect light it’s always worth it.

Details Matter Have Them Ready

Gather all your important details in one place before the photographer arrives:

  • Rings
  • Invitation suite
  • Shoes & accessories
  • Perfume/cologne
  • Jewelry
  • Any meaningful heirlooms

This saves time and ensures nothing is missed.

Trust the Process

You don’t need to know how to pose that’s our job. Focus on each other, stay present, and let moments unfold naturally. The most beautiful photos come from genuine emotion, not perfection.

Plan for an Unplugged Ceremony

Consider asking guests to put their phones away during the ceremony. This keeps your photos clean, intimate, and distraction-free and allows everyone to be fully present.

Schedule Time Alone Together

Carve out 10–15 minutes just for the two of you. These quiet moments often create the most emotional and meaningful images and give you a chance to soak it all in.
